The Returnal Ship

For Returnal, I was responsible for the modeling and initial texturing of the main spaceship's exterior, prominently featured at the game's beginning and in its trailer. I received a basic block-in model and preliminary sketches, but I had to develop original design elements, particularly concerning the paneling and tertiary details, to complete the asset.
While Maya had been my primary tool for professional production, I had also developed proficiency in Blender through personal projects. Working with this development team, I noticed some of the other artists were working in Blender so I went ahead and took this model to it’s finished state in Blender as well as rendering it in Eevee for some pre-vis shots as it was going through rounds of feedback which included some basic tiling textures and quick wear and tear decals.

​After it was approved I integrated it into the game engine (Unreal 4) and sent it off to a texture artist for some minor polishing as I moved on to another project.
